Mrs. Sara Aliza Scheinberg 2016 in Conjunction with the St. Louis Kollel “The Chait HaEgel” The story of the golden calf is one of the most intriguing yet misunderstood parts of the Torah. How could a nation that experienced the Exodus and witnessed Sinai descend into idolatry so shortly thereafter? This text based class was a journey toward the beginning of an understanding. In addition to the practical messages we can take for everyday lives, the class referenced the role of mental health, especially in response to traumatic events and gained insight into how the Torah’s ancient wisdom rings remarkably true in our modern struggle to face depression, anxiety, and mental illnesses.
